Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of His miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.”
Matthew 11:20-22 (NIV)

The evangelical triangle is a region where Jesus spent a great deal of time ministering and teaching. Among other towns, it included Capernaum, Chorazin (Korazin) and Bethsaida. By and large, the Jews in this area were known to be law-abiding, God-worshiping and synagogue-attending. They didn’t repent in a manner warranted by His miracles and teaching.

One would think they should have known better. Jesus was seeking to win the hearts of the people to the Kingdom, but these who should have been most likely to respond in faith largely did not.

  1. Why do you think people of this sort didn’t become committed disciples of Jesus? What about their upbringing and education may have made them prone to resist His invitation to follow Him?
