Although we live today in the context of the New Covenant, there are fundamental elements of the ancient covenants that remain quite relevant. For example, the signs of the Covenant are actually still valid today, even if in different forms.

The idea of covenant loyalty and fidelity is extremely applicable in all of our relationships. Later, the prophet Amos chastises Edom because of how they treated their “brother” Judah. And Malachi challenges his countrymen, “Why do we profane the covenant with our fathers by breaking faith with each other?”

Before you leave this lesson, I hope you’ll reflect on our tendency to minimize the importance of our covenants, both with God and with each other.
