Now that we’ve been exploring the Psalms for a while, you know there are different types. In the last lesson, we looked especially at hymns and laments. With 150 in the collection, there are many more types. We’ll switch here from looking at the forms to looking at the themes. What is unique about the psalms of Zion, of wisdom, of torah, of creation, of history, of human royalty and the kingship of YHWH? And how does all of this shape the way we engage the Psalms in worship today?

Let’s take in the vast diversity of this introduction and prepare for a lifetime of richer reflection from the Psalms.
