A lot of people want to be recognized and own lots of material possessions, not thinking about God unless in an emergency!

As a Christian I learned that He is in control and owns everything even money, so I trust God with His money that I steward in my life.

The most revealing part for me is where instead of asking ‘God how do you want me to spend my money’ – change it to ‘Your (Gods) money. This change in ownership completely changes how I plan to spend money going forwards. As for example, I probably not going to be buying another cute pen that I saw in the shop as I have 20 cute pens already at home, it encourages to be more responsible and keep asking myself what God wants me to do with His money. Also I like the fact that spending this way becomes a spiritual decision.

I thought the example of how the mercenaries in the Crusades would hold up their swords out of the water to symbolize that they would not give God control of how they use their swords was an interesting parallel to how people sometimes do not let God have ownership of their finances.

It is interesting that the mercenaries during the time of the Crusades held their words out of the baptism water, thinking that they did not have to surrender everything to Jesus. This is quite mocking of the way in which Christians are not fully surrendered to the Lord today.

People unfortunately put attaining wealth above God in many instances. They believe that having lots of money will lead to happiness. This is so untrue. Although money may provide temporary fulfillment, it is fleeting. Yes, you may have material possessions but they will never fill the God shaped hole in your life and heart. So God must be first and you will never lack.

All the time — the constant striving for more is built into the fabric of our society.

I have learned from experience that money is necessary and so is my relationship with Jesus.

The ideology that success and money are the primary evidence of God’s blessings.

Be a faithful steward, using money as a tool to serve our family’s needs and having surplus for the needs of others.

I would think to give to the Chruch, the poor, maybe support a missionary and of course take the wife to dinner.

    Use it as He leads.

By prayer and supplication with thanksgiving seek the Lord’s guidance in the matter of His blessings to me.
