Compass Commentary

One of God’s greatest gifts to us is prayer that allows us to converse with Him anytime and anywhere. One of the important things to remember about prayer is that it is a two-way conversation. While we often think of it as a time to tell God everything that’s on our minds, it’s just as important that we spend time listening to what He may want from us. Prayer should be our “go-to” response when we begin to feel worried or anxious about anything in our life. But also notice that our prayers are to be just as focused on rejoicing in the Lord and expressing gratitude and thankfulness to Him, as it is to give Him our wish list. As we speak to God, He will calm our fears and assure us of His control over all circumstances and situations. We’ve all heard and have been in awe of someone who prays with eloquence, fervor and passion, and we wonder what we have to do to pray like that. But Jesus reminds us that God sees our hearts, our minds, our souls, when we pray and we don’t have to use fancy words or sayings. Speak from the heart as we converse with the Lord. Give Him praise and adoration, acknowledge His sovereignty, confess and ask for forgiveness of your sins and help in forgiving others, pray for safety and protection, share your deepest thoughts with the Creator of the Universe. What a great thing to experience throughout every day!
