Overview and Objectives

Lesson Overview

We know that God calls us as followers of Jesus Christ to come alongside people in pain to help them. But how do we do that? In Lesson Four, we begin exploring various interventions, ways that we can enter into people’s lives so that we can help them.

When you complete this lesson, you should be able to do the following:

  • Explain why carefully listening without judging is a necessary first step in ministering to people in pain.
  • Define five things that listening is not.
  • Understand why it is important to paraphrase back to the person what they said to you.
