What comes to mind when you hear the term “Exodus”? Do you imagine Pharaoh, Egypt and the plagues and Israel’s liberation from slavery? That was such a critical event in the life of our ancestors in the faith—and it’s still celebrated today, thousands of years later, in the Passover. But what might we mean by “Second Exodus”? It turns out, that’s just as important an idea in the Old Testament, and it has a lot to do with Mark’s message. Let’s dig in and learn as much as we can.
