You’ve probably noticed a pattern by now on the importance of the Torah in the life of Israel. Reading and hearing the Torah leads to learning and reverence, which in turn leads Israel to obedience and life. The different parts of this pattern are spread throughout Deuteronomy.

Read the passages in Deuteronomy and indicate how the themes of reading, hearing, learning, fearing, obeying and living are addressed. Remember, not all the themes may be addressed in each passage.

  1. Deuteronomy 4:10
  1. Deuteronomy 5:23-29
  1. Deuteronomy 6:1-3
  1. Deuteronomy 17:13
  1. Deuteronomy 17:19-20
  1. Deuteronomy 19:20
  1. Deuteronomy 31:11-13
