While Solomon was known for a magnificent temple and an extensive empire, he was also famous for his wisdom. That’s something he asked for when he was young, and God granted it to him. He used that wisdom to gain insight into the world around him . . . on patterns in nature and human behavior, on the big questions of innocent suffering, the meaning of life and the hereafter. 

He discovered that it all starts with “the fear of the Lord.” We’ll have a whole module to look at what’s called “wisdom literature” in the Bible: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job. This introductory lesson will help you understand the unique perspective given in this kind of literature so that you’re ready for the surprises ahead.
