After a book and a half of legislation on Mt. Sinai, we’re about to head into the desert with the Israelites with the book of Numbers in hand. 

Why is it called Numbers? That has something to do with the importance of organizing the community as a mobile army. But there’s more. Numbers helps us see how organized God was as He led Israel from one wilderness stop to another. From 70 people who settled in the land of Goshen, God had orchestrated an entire people. Numbers represents a record of that blessing, a record of God’s blessing on the descendants of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.
