There are many views on Sabbath observance among our fellow sojourners in BibleJourney. We trust you won’t miss the most important thing—that God invites us, every week, into a piece of heavenly time here on Earth. Whether we celebrate that day on the original seventh day of the week or, with the historical Christian Church, on the first day of the week, it should be more than a day of rest, and more than a day of worship. It’s a divine invitation to recognize God’s reign, not only through our worship but also through our engagement in Jubilee realities.

So how can you answer that invitation? How might Sabbath observance become something different, something more—not an old-fashioned concept or a begrudging obligation but something that celebrates and participates in what is true, and good and beautiful?

Take some time to journal a few ideas on how you might move your own observance further into the rich vision the Bible communicates for the Sabbath.
