Has this lesson been encouraging for you? We managed to go from ancient military strategy to noticing how God works with sometimes-fearful people who make mistakes. Sounds like us, doesn’t it?

All of this geography and history is critical for learning from Joshua. Has this context helped you make sense of hard issues like holy war in the Bible? Judgment is gruesome, but the amazing thing is that God is so patient with human idolatry and injustice, and that He uses people like us to bring about justice and restoration. We’ve met a God who cares too much about His creation to remain passive.

The battles are now over but we’ve got two more lessons in Joshua. Let’s find out what the rest of the book is about—and what lessons we can learn from what follows the conquest.
