The blowing of trumpets is one of the most memorable aspects of the assault on Jericho. God commanded the use of trumpets once the gates of Jericho were barred:

Read Joshua 6:2-5

  1. This scene in Joshua may be the first place in the Bible where we notice the significance of trumpets, but we’ve heard of them before. Can you recall where?

Read Numbers 10:1-10

We read of trumpets in the book of Numbers—the manufacture of these very same trumpets used at the fall of Jericho.

  1. Observe as many details in the Numbers passage as you can that have a connection with the story of Jericho in Joshua 6. Record your observations below.
