Remember the idea of epistles being “occasional”? This is not to say that they are just “once in a while” but that they are specific to the occasion. This occasional message will start to come alive as you read the Corinthian letters. Paul is answering one question after another, and he’s addressing one specific issue after another. And, as you can guess by now, all of these practical issues are addressed both practically and theologically.

As each question or issue comes up in your reading, try to guess how Paul will answer. This will help us understand more fully how the apostle views every aspect of life for those in the church.
