Blamelessness is a way of using your freedom to protect people, and to avoid becoming a stumbling block to those around you. It matters what matters to others. Personal holiness is essential to Paul’s message. Nonetheless, he is careful to never let it appear to be a private project where we disregard others and are only concerned with our own thoughts and actions. If the Christian ethic ended here, it would be another kind of self-centered lifestyle that drove people apart and pulled up short of the love God calls us to have for one another.
