John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus in history. In the Gospel of Luke, John’s story prepares us for Jesus’ story. In each case Luke emphasizes the priority of Jesus over John. This removes any doubt over who was greater or more important. Look up the corresponding references in the chart above to see how Luke highlights similarities and differences between Jesus and John.
