Hopefully you’re familiar now with terms like “epistle” and “situational” or “occasional” documents. And now you can better appreciate the role of Paul’s letters as a form of “distance education.” Paul was a consummate teacher but always in the context of a deeply committed, personal relationship with the recipients.
