What does “Sabbath” mean to you? Does it mean Sunday? Does it mean Saturday? Does it mean any day of rest—or even part of a day? And how does worship fit into your understanding of Sabbath? Is there anything else that sets the Sabbath apart as a unique and sacred day?
As we explore the meaning of Sabbath in the Bible, we are going to discover that the Sabbath means a lot more than we might have imagined. It’s more than a day on the calendar. It’s more than rest.
The Sabbath, instead, is part of the rhythm of life, the logic of creation. It shapes the way we think about time, and about the calendar, and about what really matters in life. It invites us deeper into the life of God. So let’s carve out some time ourselves to hear what the Bible has to say.
