Did you expect to meet God as father in Deuteronomy? What about a fundamental understanding of the Law as the rules of engagement for God’s family? It seems more personal than it’s sometimes made out to be, doesn’t it?

We hope you’re seeing lots of connections to the New Testament throughout these lessons. One author named his commentary on Deuteronomy, The Gospel According to Moses. While some laws may still seem foreign, the heart of the covenant is the heart of the very same God we met in the Garden of Eden. He is seeking loyalty from His people and respect for all of His image-bearers. That’s a vision worth holding onto as we begin to look ahead to life in the Promised Land.
