If our last lesson gave a sobering view of the kind of opposition that comes with calling, this one shows us that success can be even more dangerous. Like, when things actually go our way and we start to enjoy the power of leadership too much. David may be a hero for many of us, but not because he was without flaws. It’s because his heart was responsive when he was confronted over his sin. David knew that the true King of Israel needed to be at the center of Israel’s story. And that’s a good takeaway for us too.
