Lovingkindness—hesed in Hebrewis a thread that runs through the book of Ruth. It’s expressed in Ruth’s loyalty to Naomi, but also Boaz’ care for Ruth and, ultimately, God’s concern for His people. God’s hesed, His lovingkindness, will spill over from this seemingly inconsequential story into a royal line that will usher in the golden age of this chosen people. 

Hesed is one of those Hebrew terms that is hard to translate into English because it has such rich meaning. So, let’s explore the concept in this second look at Ruth.
