The raising of Lazarus concludes what most scholars would call the Book of Signs. Next comes the whole Passion section. This second part of the book is sometimes referred to as the Book of Glory. The Book of Glory has an eighth and final sign—Jesus’ resurrection. John is going to make it clear that he is sharing these signs—and especially the final sign—so that his audience will respond in faith.
