Paul’s conviction that the church assembly was the body of Christ is at the center of everything he says to the Corinthian church about their conduct. These letters to the Corinthians, like all of Paul’s letters, were more than correspondence; they were also church documents, or charters. They were meant to provide guidance in the daily life of the Corinthian church as to what a Christian community should look like and how it should function in the larger community.

Read 1 Corinthians 11:17-26, 33-34.

  1. Briefly summarize Paul’s criticism of the Corinthians in this passage.
