Earlier we learned about the various forms of suffering Paul experienced. Notice what Paul says about his own experience with suffering:

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
2 Corinthians 4:7-10 ESV

Consider all the ways you suffer. You may experience many forms of suffering, but especially think about any forms of suffering you experience as a result of your mission in the world for Christ—witnessing to others, taking a public stand, serving the needy in your community, etc.

  1. How do Paul’s words in the Corinthian letters strengthen and encourage you to endure and persevere?
