Although this lesson was primarily about Saul, Jonathan was always there in the background, loyal even to death. Had his father been different, Jonathan would have been the next king and would in all likelihood have been a faithful one.
Recall a time in your life when you were called by God to play a supporting role.
- Did you feel overlooked or underappreciated? Were your talents underutilized? Were you disrespected?
- Briefly recount that time and some of the struggles you experienced. How might the story of Jonathan change the way you approach a similar situation in the future, in respect to both your ego and the other people involved?
