We’re about to study one of the most famous figures in the Bible. You know . . . the one who defeated Goliath with a slingshot . . . the psalmist of Israel. In this lesson we’ll slow the story down enough to watch the surprising anointing of David by the prophet Samuel and the heir-apparent’s early rise to prominence. But we’ll follow this bewildered young man when he falls out of royal favor and goes on the run from Saul. Many of the psalms get their inspiration from David’s dark days of hiding. Let’s discover how God developed his anointed one in this crucible.
