While all the Gospels show various reactions to the miracles, John is the one who names them “signs.” Why? Because signs point to something. The miracles either verified Jesus’ claims to being one with His Heavenly Father, or He was a fraud. They forced a choice. People were either amazed and believed, or they became angry and opposed Him.
