Now that we’ve had two lessons to explore the world of priests, what are your impressions? What did you think of the Samaritan priest who traces his lineage all the way back to Aaron—and Adam?! What a powerful sense of identity when ancestry defines your role in the community. Even in the Jewish community today, those with the name “Cohen” are considered descendants of the ancient priestly course and have certain expectations and restrictions.
We trust that you’ve personalized this as a Christian believer, taking on the mantle of priestly identity in Christ. We are “models” of holy behavior to those who could be attracted to God’s holy presence. And we are “mediators” for a world that needs that access desperately. Mediators of God’s grace and forgiveness but also mediators of His holy Word.
Hopefully you won’t leave this lesson until you let God speak to you about those close to you who need a true priest in their life.
