With the holiness code in mind, look back at the following passages from the books of Genesis and Exodus to understand the role of Israel in history:
Gen 12:3; 18:18; 22:18; 26:4; 28:14; Ex 19:5-6
God’s plan to bless the world through His chosen people involves their holiness. His objective in calling them is to impress the world with a ritual, political and social life that reflects God’s own holy character.
