The sacrifices and offerings of Leviticus present us with an elaborate system of ritual service to God. Not only offerings for sin and guilt, but also offerings for things like thanksgiving are described. Some of these offerings have many variations for different people and circumstances. The purification offering alone has six references in Leviticus and Numbers that describe subtle distinctions in the way the ritual should be administered.
