The story of David’s son, Solomon, may be as epic as his father’s. He was off to a good start, just like David. He was humble and God-honoring. His early days were marked by incredible blessing—with God-given wisdom and strategic and successful empire-building. His name means “peace” and that’s exactly what Israel experienced in abundance. At first.
In this lesson we’ll witness Solomon’s breathtaking rise and reign. But we’ll see that the foundations of his reign had serious cracks that would lead to tragic outcomes. Let’s take some time to appreciate the glorious early years before those cracks split the whole empire.
