[Record your answers in the workbook provided at the beginning of this course.]
The history of the Church is littered with examples where appearances were deceiving. There have been times when the appearance of a dynamic and powerful ministry was undermined by the revelation of personal struggles or immorality . . . only to go home to struggle with depression or even to repeatedly engage in sinful behavior. Things just aren’t always as they appear—and more to our point, circumstances can’t always be correlated with integrity.
- Think of a time in recent memory when deceptive appearances have been brought to light. What are the lessons that you learned from the experience?
