This lesson gave us a chance to see that proclaiming God’s Word on the mountaintop with boldness one day doesn’t guarantee faith for the next. The Ahabs and Jezebels in our world can intimidate even the most faithful Christians. Hopefully you found some encouragement from knowing that even Elijah despaired of life and that God was there to give him a meal and a fresh revelation of Himself.

We also learned that success and prosperity are not always a sign of God’s blessing. Many of our global brothers and sisters say we are captive to materialism and the pursuit of affluence. They think we may have a case of “affluenza.” What do you think? When God writes the history of our generation, we want to be sure we have taken our stand for Him and with Him—whether in times of strength or in times of weakness.
